Family Mediation
Family Mediation Flat Fee
-
We will meet with each of you individually to ensure that the mediation process will be suitable, effective and customized to your circumstances. It is also an opportunity for us to understand each of your priorities, concerns, design an efficient mediation process, and which mediation package may work for you. This individual meeting is completely confidential.
-
Once both parties have their individual pre-mediation meeting and everyone agrees to continue, we will book a joint mediation planning meeting with both of you and the mediator. During this meeting, we gather more detailed information, clarify the issues that need to be resolved, determine the documents that may need to be gathered and book the mediation. We do not simply jump into the mediation as this step is important to ensure that everyone is prepared for the mediation and ensures that the mediation is focused and efficient.
-
Depending on your needs, we may have several joint mediation sessions. During the joint mediation session, the parties, with the assistance of the mediator, work towards an agreement on the issues that you wish to resolve.
Once we complete the mediation sessions, we prepare the draft Memorandum of Agreement based on the agreements that were made in mediation sessions.
-
We meet to review the Memorandum of Understanding (and related documents such as support calculations and Net Family Property calculations). We will make any changes that are necessary and then finalize the drafts.
-
Once the drafts are finalized, both parties are encouraged to obtain independent legal advice on the Memorandum of Understanding and related documents. We will explain how to legally finalize the Agreement.
